GM Dictionary: Governments #10

As we get on with the GM Dictionary entries, there are plenty of topics which include words I cannot say I understand well enough. Designing my homebrew worlds has made me realized I don’t have a great vocabulary for governments / political bodies. Sure I know plenty of words, but I wouldn’t say I could define them all properly. So, for April I am sharing government-related words. Many you will recognize and some you might not. Remember that these are complex topics and this series, perhaps more than any other, is one where there is plenty more to look into and my brevity might cross the line into an oversimplification. Still, I hope it is a good baseline!

While negative in modern general context, this simply describes a governance of those with money or wealth. While wealth is synonymous with many forms of rulership, this government is intrinsic to money. One could literally buy their way into having a part of the say of what happens.

This is a mini-article series featuring short explanations for words more commonly used in RPGs (or potentially so!) than normal conversation. Each month will hold a different theme and each weekday will have a different word. Note: these are personal, simple breakdowns and not perfect. Please tell me if I am mistaken and I will work to correct it! For anyone looking for a collected work please check out our Patreon. All patrons get a PDF collected copy each month!

Why thank you! It has been enlightening for me and certainly helps my vocab. Hopefully other people find it as useful!
