GM Dictionary: Geology #11

This month I want to cover something that I generally know very little about: geology. Sure I know a bit. Enough to get by. I usually even remember the difference between stalactite and stalagmite. I’ll give you a hint. One holds tight (or tite!) to the ceiling! That being said my vocabulary could use a boost and maybe yours could to so let’s dig in this month’s Dictionary. (Okay I apologize for the puns.)


Escarpment

Generally this refers to a long slope or steep cliff line that separates to relatively flat plains. In this case it can also be referred to as a scarp. Sometimes it refers to the section of geology between to places and there two faces. The scarp side, with steep slope, and the dip side, with a gentle slope.
